於是,在好久好久的空窗期之後,終於找到十足振奮人心讓我可以繼續翻譯的素材 讓我可以繼續翻譯了(這句到底在說甚麼)

在英文論壇reddit裡面,去年十二月開始,有群非常好心的外粉,終於開始收集各月份的山神教條Words of Brandon啦QAQ

基本上,寰宇的所有資訊都得來自山神團隊的證實,我們粉絲的推論僅能是推論,所以WoB本身就很有價值,實在是彌足珍貴啊@@

目前這個系列來到今年五月,我會在這段期間把他們陸續翻譯出來的,可以複習不少以前的觀念噢>..<

 

So here we go:

賽耳篇 Sel

魂印整座城市在理論上是可能的,但實際上極端的不可能。

Soulstamping an entire city is theoretically possible, but impractical in the extreme.

 

鐸的表現之所以如此劇烈,是因為憎惡把「奉獻」和「統御」這兩個彼此對立的原旨塞在意識界所造成的。

The Dor is so violent because Odium pressed the opposing Intents of Devotion and Dominion together and stuffed them in the Cognitive Realm.

 

憎惡把賽耳的兩份碎力鎖在意識界裡面,讓它們沒辦法取得自主意識或讓某人取得它們而昇華。(簡單來說就是避免這股力量重新變成碎神)

Odium locked the Selish Shards in the Cognitive Realm to keep them from achieving sentience or someone Ascending.

 

 

司卡德利亞篇 Scadrial

依藍德有更多特質像他的母親而非父親。

Elend takes after his mother a lot more than his father.

 

鐵鏽滅絕跟滅絕並非不同的人。

Rust is not a separate person from Ruin.

 

埃金屬(Ettmetal)就是諧金(Harmonium)。

  註:Ettmetal是迷霧之子Era2第三部:Bands of Mourning(簡稱BoM)裡面,南司卡德利亞所使用的一種金屬,可以模仿附近的鎔金術或藏金術效果。

Ettmetal is Harmonium.

 

諧金是一種"超銫物質"。

  註:埃金屬/諧金會和水產生極端劇烈的反應,就和IA族的鹼金屬一樣。銫(Cs)是鹼金屬之一。

Harmonium is a "super-cesium".

 

如果藏金術師有100%完美的記憶力,紅銅意識裡面的資訊是不會退化的。

Information from a coppermind would not degrade if the Feruchemist had 100% perfect memory.

 

如果把藏金術的存量從一個金屬意識挪到另外一個,會有非常少量的力量損失。

There's very little power loss when moving a Feruchemical charge from one metalmind to another.

 

能者可以把速度圈跟自己錨在一起。

  註:一般而言,速度圈是設下之後就不能再更動位置的;這裡表示鎘或彎管合金的能者可以把速度圈帶著跑XD

A savant could anchor a speed bubble to themselves.

 

布蘭登可能會回頭讓一些角色變成能者(尤其是瓦)

Brandon may backpedal on making characters savants (particularly Wax)

 

金的複合師沒辦法復原某些事物,例如年齡性疾病和遺傳性疾病。

Gold compounders can't heal from certain things, such as some age-related illnesses or genetic diseases.

 

如果要儲存鎳鉻意識(註:儲存授予),鎔金術的力量需要被個別儲存。

When being stored in nicrosilminds, Allomantic powers need to be stored separately.

 

 

納西斯篇 Nalthis

復歸神屬於意識之影(Cognitive Shadows),而藉由神聖駐氣牢固的嵌合在他們的肉體上。

The Returned are Cognitive Shadows, firmly attached to their bodies by their divine Breath.

 

五學者們已經造訪過經歷工業革命的世界,這讓他們創造出了一些聽起來很科學的詞,例如生體彩息(BioChromatic Breath)。

The Five Scholars have visited a world that has already experienced an Industrial Revolution, which was an inspiration for some of the scientific sounding terms they used, such as BioChromatic Breath.

 

夏莎拉已經到過別的世界。

Shashara has been off-world.

 

法榭和夏莎拉被廣泛認為是早期的寰宇學者。

Vasher and Shashara are widely regarded as early Cosmere scholars.

 

納西斯的學者知道的比任何不是躍界者的人都還多。

Scholars on Nalthis know more than anyone who isn't a worldhopper.

 

 

羅沙篇 Roshar

人類在榮譽、培養、和憎惡抵達羅沙前就在那裡了。

Humans were on Roshar before Honor, Cultivation, and Odium arrived.

 

依瑞雅利人不是羅沙原生種族。

  註:依瑞雅利人就是那群金毛XD,例如尹姆。

The Iriali are not native to Roshar.

 

帕山迪人被創造為羅沙生態系統的一部分。

The Parshendi were created to be part of the Rosharan ecosystem.

 

有關羅沙語族。

Rosharan language families.

山神在reddit上的答覆:

  基本的語言樹在這裡:

  弗林語系:雅烈席語、費德語、賀達熙語,還有較遠系的賽勒那語。納坦語(Natan)趨近滅絕了,但根系相同;卡布嵐司語基本上是種方言(廢話這國家超小w)。其他的少數語言,例如巴伏語(Bav)也算在裡面。

  馬卡巴奇語:亞西須語領頭,大部分的語言都由此分支,大約有三十種。

  晨語系:來自晨頌(dawnchant)這個深遠來源的一個分歧語系。雪諾瓦語、帕山迪語、食角人話。他們的文法共用,但由於分家的時間過久導致彼此的詞彙非常不同。

  依瑞語系:依瑞雅利、雷熙語、純湖方言、里拉語(Riran),還有周邊地區的語言(基本上都在羅沙西北方)

  艾米亞語:這兩種(艾米亞人 的語言)混在一起,但非常不同。

當然,以上還不包含靈的語系。我可能漏掉了甚麼東西。我只是用手機在沒有個人維基的狀況下打打的(山神團隊有自己的設定維基 不公開)


雷熙諸島(=太納)就是羅沙上最大的巨殼獸了。

The Reshi Isles are the biggest greatshells on Roshar.

 

無眠者,也就是代西-艾米亞人,寫了書本封底的blurb(我,存在於古老久遠的最後寂滅之前...)

The Sleepless, Dysian Aimians, wrote the back cover blurbs.

 

我們已經看過無眠者很多次了。

We have seen the Sleepless multiple times already.

 

霍德在<燦軍箴言>的尾聲對話的克姆林就是一部分的代西-艾米亞人,而且他知道。

The cremling Hoid spoke to in the Words of Radiance epilogue was part of a Dysian Aimian, and he knew it.

 

我們會在某個狀況下看到鬼血的標誌。

We will be seeing the Ghostblood symbol at some point.

 

你不需要刻意吸氣才能吸入颶光。

You don't need to physically inhale to breathe in Stormlight.

 

馬基維利主義跟燦軍的誓言沒有特別的不相容。

  註:馬基維利主義(Machiavellianism)是一種政治學觀點,強調「為達目的不擇手段」;山神說破空師團和異召師團就會蠻贊同這點的。

Machiavellianism is not necessarily incompatible with Radiant Oaths.

 

尹姆原本會變成一名真觀師。(但被宰了啊納拉你這渾蛋T_T)

Ym would have become a Truthwatcher.

 

達利納在成為盟鑄師的路上已經走很久了。加維拉也是。

Dalinar has been on the Bondsmith path for a long time. So was Gavilar.

 

加維拉在成為盟鑄師的路上比達利納來得久。

Gavilar was on the Bondsmith path longer than Dalinar has been.

 

利芙特對溫德的觀點只和其他的緣舞師對他們靈的看法有些許的不同。

Lift sees Wyndle only slightly differently from how other Edgedancers would see their spren.

 

因為靈跟封波師的連結是靈魂層面的,他們不需要口頭提醒就可以變成封波師需要的樣子。

Since spren are connected to Surgebinders on a spiritual level, they can turn into whatever the Surgebinder needs without warning.

 

靈的自言自語在元素靈(elemental spren)身上比情緒靈(emotional spren)身上還要常見。(像是卡拉丁在<王者之路>的開頭風靈的模仿)

Personality quirks are more common in elemental spren than emotional spren.

 

對靈而言,躍界很難,但是有可能。

It's hard, but possible, for spren to worldhop.

 

在布雷司只有憎惡靈是受到歡迎的,但它們跟我們目前看過的任何東西都不一樣。

Only odiumspren are welcome on Braize, but they're different from anything we've seen so far.

 

布雷司的主軸是9。(就像羅沙的主軸是10,司卡德利亞的主軸是16)

Braize is 9-centric.

 

任何被充足授予的人都能看到賽司的殘像(afterimage)。

  註:小芙在<緣舞師 Edgedancer>裡面有看到賽司的身體輪廓外面有點亮亮的(?)

Anyone sufficiently Invested can see Szeth's afterimages.

 

賽司不是意識之影,但是他的魂魄沒有很牢靠的接在他的身體上,所以他會有殘像。(所以是某種光暈嗎XD)

Szeth is not a Cognitive Shadow, but his soul is not sticking to his body very well, which is where the afterimages come from.

 

垂裂點是可以被創造的。基本上,加絲娜做的事情就是製造一個小小迷你垂裂點,讓她自己滑進(slip)意識界。

Perpendicularities can be created. Basically, what Jasnah does is create a little mini Perpendicularity and slips herself into the Cognitive Realm.

 

榮譽的垂裂點會動。(這也太炫炮XD)

Honor's Perpendicularity moves.

 

納拉正在用他原本的榮刃。

Nale is using his original Honorblade.

 

艾沙故意欺騙納拉。其實所有的神將都瘋了。

Ishar intentionally deceived Nale. All of the Heralds are insane.

 

有些人會認為神將是意識之影。

Some would call Heralds Cognitive Shadows.

 

過去神將是不需要從寶石中吸取颶光的,雖然在榮譽的降臨之前,颶光本來就能在寶石中被儲存。

There was a point when the Heralds didn't need to draw Stormlight from gems, although the stormlight-in-gems predates Honor's arrival.

 

永颶對法榭來說是件壞事。

The Everstorm means something bad for Vasher.

 

 

泛寰宇篇 General Cosmere

鎳鉻的複合師會需要極大量的複合才能達到跟宵血相同的授予程度。一個有1000道駐氣的物體需要做更多事才能跟達到宵血一樣的授予程度。

A nicrosil compounder would have to compound an incredible amount to get a metalmind as Invested as Nightblood. An object with 1000 Breaths would need something more to be as Invested as Nightblood.

 

一個知道碎神在幹嘛,而且想駭進不同魔法系統的鎔金躍界者,是可能從其他碎神身上取得神金的。

An Allomancer worldhopper who knows what they're doing and is looking to hack magic systems could obtain godmetals from other Shards.

 

我們已經在司卡德利亞以外的地方看過血金術了。

We've seen Hemalurgy somewhere other than Scadrial in the Cosmere.

 

我們已經看過一點負值魔法系統的提示,而且不是血金術。

We have seen hints of an end-negative magic system other than Hemalurgy.

 

血金術可以竊取魂印建構出來的魂魄。被刺的人的靈魂會受到較少的傷害。

Hemalurgy can steal souls constructed by Soulstamps. The soul of the person being spiked would be less harmed as a result.

 

有關寰宇的不朽性

Immortality in the Cosmere.

 

悠倫到了<颶光典籍>的時代仍然有人居住。收信人(The letter's recipient)還住在悠倫。

Yolen is still populated during the events of the Stomlight Archive. The letter's recipient is on Yolen at that time.

 

寰宇星圖(AU那張)是從銀光的觀點"想像"出來的。

The Cosmere star chart is 'imagined' from Silverlight's perspective.

 

銀光完全存在於意識界。

Silverlight exists solely in the Cognitive Realm.

 

銀光是個城市,比一個村莊大很多。

Silverlight is a whole city, a lot larger than a village.

 

<無垠秘典>裡面的論文有很高的可信度,他們都在差不多的時間被撰寫,跟大部分的故事同時期,但比<夕陽老六>的時間早很多。

The Arcanum Unbounded essays are pretty trustworthy. They were all written at around the same time, contemporary with most of the books, but long before Sixth of the Dusk takes place.

 

躍界者把普通感冒傳染到羅沙來。(乾XD) (原po:這是以前的,不知道為甚麼在這裡,反正我就留著)

Worldhoppers took the common cold to Roshar. (this is old, not sure why it's here, but I'll leave it)

 

大部分的第十七碎成員,包括德穆,都是用一樣的方法維持年輕。它會減緩老化,但停滯不了這點。

Most of the 17th Shard, including Demoux, use the same method to stay young. It slows aging a lot, but doesn't stop it.

 

加入第十七碎有條件,但是不一定要有授予。

You don't have to be Invested to join the 17th Shard, but there are requirements.

 

第十七碎相信碎神分裂是有原因的,而祂們應該要保持分裂,人們不應該攪局讓祂們合而為一。

The 17th Shard believes that the Shards split up for a reason, and they should continue to be split up, and people should not dabble in bringing them back together.

 

納哲給凱西爾的那把刀很"奇葩"。

The knife Nazh gave Kelsier is 'weird'.

 

丹司花過很多時間在羅沙上,但他沒有好好的到處逛過。司卡德利亞是最容易造訪的星球之一。

Denth spent a lot of time on Roshar, but he did not travel very widely. Scadrial is one of the easier planets to travel to.

 

法榭跟宵血是在來到羅沙之後才分開的。

Vasher and Nightblood were separated after coming to Roshar.

 

霍德知道自己該去哪裡的方法跟鉻的幕後機轉一樣。(運氣?)

Hoid's method of knowing where he needs to be uses the same underlying mechanism as Chromium.

 

霍德不會認為自己是個好人。

Hoid doesn't think of himself as a good person.

 

霍德很欣賞克里絲。

Hoid thinks well of Khriss.

 

霍德很期待泡麵的出現,而他知道有這東西的方法跟他知道自己要去哪裡的方法一樣。(到底是甚麼方法啦!XD)

Hoid is looking forward to instant noodles, and he knows about them the same way he knows where he needs to be.

 

雄心不在一個星球上,但是他不是先前布蘭登提到沒有星球的那個碎神,所以有兩個碎神沒有星球。

Ambition is not on a planet, but he/she is not the Shard Brandon has previously referred to as the one not on a planet. So, there are two out there.

 

雄心是憎惡打手名單上的頭號目標,但是他在殺死奉獻跟統御之後才找到雄心。

Ambition was number one on Odium's hit list, but he didn't find Ambition until after he had already killed Devotion and Dominion.

 

巴伐丁有很多形象,不過她的女性形象比男性多。

Bavadin has many personas, though she has more female personas than male.

 

我們已經看過巴伐丁在其他世界的影響了。

We've seen Bavadin's influence on other worlds.

 

載體在表現碎力的原旨時是有彈性的。

  註:意思是他們可以自己詮釋,例如雅提就把「滅絕」解釋成是熵(失序與平衡)的追求。

Vessels have some flexibility in expressing a Shard's Intent.

 

至少有一個碎神不是人類。

At least one Shard wasn't human.

 

不是所有紅眼睛的角色都被同一個碎神影響,但紅色是一個指標。

Not all red-eyed characters are being influenced by the same Shard, but the red is significant.
